WEST LIBERTY, WV – West Liberty University’s Student Government Association has kept the Fall 2025 semester going strong with two more meetings occurring this past month.
SGA wants to thank all the Hilltoppers out there for attending Homecoming 2025! It was definitely one to be remembered by current students and alumni alike.
The Senator Representative for the Gary E. West College of Business informed the senate that the tentative date for the “Young Executives” meeting is November 21, 2025; however, the Topper Thrift Re-Grand opening does not have a set date yet. It is possible that the etiquette dinner usually held by the department will be open to all students, if enough interest is shown. The representative for the College of Education and Human Performance told the senate that by this time next fall, the department wants to implement “at risk” students to use facilities at WLU to reintegrate back into their education.
The College of Liberal and Creative Arts Representative vocalized that they are trying to shift General Studies classes to be broader, while also planning to use the best faculty for the courses, as well as offering more online and active General Education classes. Microcredentials for the department are almost completely approved, meaning if a student were to not finish their degree, then they would have accreditation for a resume. The College of Sciences representative let the senate know that the new Aquatic Center is now open, and that there is a lot of concern, especially among the Biology Department faculty, about financial aid no longer covering classes not directly needed for your major.
More information about the changes to financial aid can be found in the attached graphic.

The new SGA office location is officially in the Main Hall East Wing, room M177. The organization also has new social media, including Facebook, TikTok, and X. So, be sure to give them a follow on all their platforms!
