The new chapter of Collegiate American Choral Directors Association (CACDA) began its new period of future choral directors and singers. Charlotte Dotson was elected as President of the chapter and looks to build the groups standing on campus.

“I am privileged to be rebuilding the society and strengthening numbers due to the loss caused by COVID” said Dotson. This CACDA provides support to future choral educators when learning about how to improve and become a successful teacher while growing choral skills.

When trying to discover new teaching styles, the group attends different conferences in West Virginia to learn and better themselves so they can bring the most productivity to the classroom. Conferences can be expensive but the organization sponsors each member who wants to attend the events. This means that fundraising has become a big part of their success. “I believe that music education is important for childhood development skills and CADCA provides the resources future educators need to strive within the classroom” said Dotson.

To raise money for the conferences available to the new CADCA club on campus, the group has decided to table every Friday from 8-12 p.m. in the Union Ballroom to sell donuts for $2. The group accepts payment through cash and venmo at the booth and all proceeds are donated to the chapter in sponsoring members for activities and any conferences they may attend.
