The Trumpet

About

THE TRUMPET, West Liberty University’s student-run newspaper, started in 1921. The Trumpet is WLU’s student news source with the motto “The Student Voice of the Hilltop.” To read past issues of The Trumpet from each decade, click this link.   The Trumpet’s mission is to provide WLU students of all majors an opportunity to learn how to gather and present news information to the campus community and to serve the WLU community with fair and accurate reporting on matters of significance and interest.

The Trumpet’s staff meets every Wednesday from noon to 12:30 p.m. The meetings are open to all WLU students. We are looking for contributing writers, animators, cartoonists, videographers, photographers, sports fanatics, political enthusiasts and critics, to name a few! All majors are invited to attend! All meetings will be held remotely this semester due to COVID-19. Please attend using this link.

The Trumpet staff is preparing for its centennial celebration in 2021. To celebrate its 100-year anniversary, The Trumpet has a new website and domain name, new app– College News Source ( Apple app store or Google Play), new page layout, digital archiving starting from 1921 using the platform Issuu and new branding created by WLU students (read the branding story here).  The 100-year Trumpet Committee is planning events for 2021.
