Quality Bakery Shoppe is a small town bakery located at 1004 2nd Street , Moundsville, West Virginia. In Sept the Quality Bakery Shoppe closed its doors temporarily due to health reasons. The Health department is working with the owner Bill Henthorn to get the small town business up and running again.
Senior Logan Riggenbach is familiar with the Moundsville area. She recounts her favorite memory of the bakery,“ My grandparents once took myself, my sister, and both of my cousins to the flea market and afterwards we took our loot and put it in the truck”.
They soon drove to the Quality Bakery Shoppe for some sweet treats. They ended up getting the Bakeries famous Mad Dogs and brownies to top off the day. Once they got to her grandparent’s house they ended up eating all of those treats that left their parents annoyed from the children’s sugar rush.
Senior Haley Blakemore, favorite memory is her first visit with the Bakery. In her free time she visits the Quality Bakery Shoppe everytime she goes into Moundsville. “It’s crazy to see how many donuts they have,” Blackmore’s favorite treat to get is their beloved Mad Dogs.
Riggenbach explained that although she’s upset with the closure, it’s well needed in order to keep the safety of the staff and customers.
Additionally, Riggenbach goes on to explain the atmosphere of the town and bakery, “You can tell that it was decorated by locals and locally owned ” when describing the atmosphere of the town and bakery. Blackmore explained her thoughts about the closure, “It’s one of the best bakeries around. They do sell quality pastries, quality donuts.”
Seeing its departure affected everyone in the town. People felt saddened by the news and hoped for its return. For the time being all we can do is keep supporting small businesses and await for its arrival.
