A local Wheeling restaurant has started a new food challenge, known as the “Doom Challenge.”
The local Mexican restaurant, Taqueria 304, started this new challenge hoping to bring in more locals from the area to test their spice skills against the Doom Sauce. Within the challenge, you must finish 3 tacos of your choice that are covered in jalapenos and their signature Doom Sauce. If you are able to handle the heat and down these tacos in 15 minutes, you must sit for an additional 10 minutes without drinking a beverage.
If you can do this, you are awarded a hat or shirt of your choice as a prize for completing the challenge. On top of the merchandise, you will also get your name on their “Wall of Doom.”
Taqueria 304 is a restaurant that focuses on Mexican cuisine, specifically tacos, alongside varying draft beers. They are located at 1062 Market Street and are pushing heavily to entice customers. Business has not been slow for them at all, but like most restaurants, they are always ready for more.
The introduction of the food challenge may bring in a new crowd that would have previously overlooked this small, local taco restaurant. It is exciting news for the Wheeling area, because excluding chain restaurants like Quaker Steak & Lube, there are currently no other food challenges advertised in the area.
Hopefully, the introduction of the Doom Challenge will incentivize other restaurants to incorporate challenges within their menu to give locals and travelers an exciting meal.
