WEST LIBERTY, WV – The WLU Community Outreach Club is holding their first Holiday Food Drive, going on until December 8th, with help from the Ohio County Family Resource Network.
Graduate Advisor of the Community Outreach Club, Leighann Waryck, got connected with the Family Resource Network through an internship with them, where she worked with their blessing box food donation program.
“I knew it was a good program, so me running the club, I remembered that and wanted to do something with them,” Waryck said.
Since this is the Community Outreach Club’s first Holiday Food Drive, their goal is just to get some items to be able to donate. But, since they’ve gotten so many donations already, they hope to reach 50 items by the end of the food drive.
The club is only accepting non-perishable food items to ensure the food will be able to be used for a while. Types of food you can donate include rice, canned or boxed food, pasta, condiments, and cooking oil. If you have items you would like to donate, the drop boxes are located in Main Hall, the Student Union, Arnett Hall, and Campbell Hall.
