Kate Billings, SGA, and Student Life hosted their 10th Anniversary Celebration to honor the longstanding tradition of their holiday event, Winterfest. The celebration took place in the Union Ballroom on December 4 at 7 p.m. The evening featured a speech by Dr. Tim Borchers, followed by remarks from Jenna Maguire, President of SGA. Before the main event began, there was a tree lighting ceremony, and after the event, the annual bingo started at 9 p.m. in Elbin Auditorium, College Hall. Many students were eager to participate in ornament decorating, holiday karaoke, and cookie decorating, all provided by SGA and Student Life. Over the past ten years, attendance for this event has grown significantly, increasing from 100 to 400 participants. This celebration offers a great opportunity for students to take a break from the stress of assignments and exams and enjoy time with friends and colleagues.
Campus Ministry offered students the opportunity to design their own Christmas ornaments. Meanwhile, the Ki Omega sorority organized letter-writing to Santa, with donations benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation to support children in need. The Art Department assisted
students in creating personal cards and holiday postcards for their families and friends. NAfME, a music club, helped make puff paint ornaments, and Housing provided mini stockings personalized with students’ names. The event featured a photo booth for students to capture memories, as well as Winterfest Bingo, where participants can win prizes. After Thanksgiving break, the Student Government Association (SGA) and Student Life decorate the Union Ballroom with a 12-foot-tall Christmas tree themed around West Liberty, accompanied by festive red and green tablecloths
