WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. – The West Liberty Men’s Wrestling Team held their annual Senior Night on February 13th, 2025. The Hilltoppers hosted Lake Erie College in a showdown between two top 15 teams. West Liberty was looking to put a stamp on an impressive regular season with one final outing before postseason action began.
To get things started, West Liberty honored their seniors, who would be competing at home for the final time. These seniors include Alec Cook, Breagan Pearson, Ty. McGeary, Jordan Watters, and Carter Winegardner. Once the Senior Night concluded, wrestlers began preparing for the final dual of the season. The dual was set to kick off at 125 lbs. and finish at heavyweight.

Freshman Logan Davis got the ball rolling for the Hilltoppers with a 4-2 decision victory. West Liberty followed that up with a close decision win by James Armstrong Jr. at 133 lbs. The Hilltoppers would then drop their first match of the dual with a one point loss at 141 lbs. After that, West Liberty answered with a 6-1 decision win at 149 lbs., but dropped the next two at 157 and 165.
West Liberty would then win out the remaining four matches. Senior Carter Winegardner secured a 6-3 decision victory, which was followed by fellow senior Ty McGeary winning by technical fall. Devon Bell pinned his opponent at 197 lbs. Then, Parker Bentley capped off the dual with a 9-1 major decision win.
The Hilltoppers won seven of the ten matches, giving them the victory 27-11. West Liberty will now have some time off before the NCAA Division II Super Region 3 Championships, which is set for Saturday, March 1st.
