WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. – The West Liberty Hilltoppers Men’s Basketball Team was looking to win their 12th straight game as they hosted Salem University on Wednesday, February 26th. The Hilltoppers came into the game with an impressive 23-3 record. This record earned the Hilltoppers the number 6 ranking in the NABC poll.

West Liberty started the game off hot, putting up 74 points in the first half. The Hilltoppers shot 53 percent from the field and knocked down 13 three pointers to give them a commanding 74-45 lead.
WLU continued their dominance in the second half, knocking down 14 more three pointers, which set them just three shy of the all-time school record of 30. West Liberty put up 88 points in the second half and were led in scoring by freshman John Dragas, who put up a career high 29 points. All nine players who saw action posted double figures in scoring.
WLU wound up winning by a score of 162-106. This score broke the record for most points scored in a game in West Liberty Men’s Basketball history. West Liberty also had 44 assists, which bested the schools previous record of 41.
West Liberty moves to 24-3 with a 17-2 MEC record and rounds out the regular season with a matchup Saturday against Wheeling University at 4 p.m.
