WEST LIBERTY, W. VA. – The West Liberty Softball Team headed to Glenville State for a double header on April 5th. The Hilltoppers entered the matchups with a 19-16 record. West Liberty was also riding some momentum, as they had won 4 of their last 5 games. Glenville State, on the other hand, entered Saturday’s contest with a 19-12 record.

Glenville state started off hot in game one. In the first inning, the Pioneers plated five runs. The scoring was ignited by Hannah Howe, who launched a three run-homer. West Liberty struggled offensively, garnering just three hits through five innings. Glenville State would add 4 more runs to take game one 9-0.
Game two was much of the same for West Liberty. The offense just couldn’t seem to get into a rhythm.
Glenville State however, started off with three runs in the first inning. Then in inning three, Glenville added two more runs to bring the score 5-0. That’s how the game would end, as West Liberty was shutout for the second time in two games.
The Hilltoppers will look to regroup and get back on track against Wheeling University on April 9th. West Liberty will play a double header against Wheeling, which is the start of their six-game home stretch.
On Saturday, April 12th, West Liberty will compete in another double header, this time against Davis and Elkins College. West Liberty’s weekend will continue to be busy as they finish with another double header against West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday.
