West Liberty, WV – I had the pleasure of sitting down with Associate Professor Christian Lee, the longest tenured staff member at West Liberty.
Lee teaches communications at West Liberty, a role that he has held since 1989. Lee started his teaching Career at Northern Illinois University, where he taught for two years.
Lee designed and built the Television Studio and Master Control Room located in the Fine Arts Building. He teaches a variety of classes relating to Television and Radio broadcasting.“My favorite class to teach is probably news directing,” says Lee.

Lee has persevered through many health issues in his tenure at West Liberty. Recently, he missed half of the fall 2024 semester and the first three weeks of the fall 2025 semester. He continues to teach because he is passionate about teaching the next generation of broadcasters.
“I plan on teaching at least two more years, maybe up to four,“ Lee says.
Lee has a passion for the outdoors. In his free time, he enjoys metal detecting and camping. He has camped in many places across the United States. Lee says, “My favorite place to camp is Monongahela National Forest.“
Lee’s classes will host the 19th season of “Noise Violation”, a live music show where local and regional musical acts come to play, starting Wednesday, October 8th. Come watch on Channel 14 on Comcast, cause you don’t want to miss out!
