WEST LIBERTY – West Liberty University’s Student Government Association held their
first two meetings of the Fall 2025 semester this past month.
Many new senators were inducted into the organization, as well as returning individuals. The current Student Body President is Luke Sweat and the Vice President is Ashley Law.
A recent addition to the ranks of SGA is the inclusion of specific senators that are responsible for speaking to the Deans of each of their colleges on student-related issues and reporting back to the Senate. The overarching goal of this process is to form stronger connections with the Deans and the students within their respective colleges.
The College of Education and Human Performance reported that the Dean Dr. Sherri Theaker hopes to sit in on more of the classes to understand what they are like as well as consider changes that could be made in order to benefit the students and their education.
The College of Liberal and Creative Arts reported that the Dean Dr. Cecilia Konchar Farr wants to focus on providing more study abroad opportunities and updating the communal spaces offered to students within the college.
Both the representatives for the Gary E. West College of Business and the College of Sciences were unable to schedule meetings with their Deans before the final September SGA meeting.
The location of the SGA office has been changed to the first floor of the Main Hall. It has switched locations with Topper Thrift, which is now located on the second floor of the Union.
The week of Homecoming on the hilltop will be Oct. 19-25, 2025, with the game itself being held on the final day. The theme of the week will be Wild West. Be sure to participate in the many events that the SGA will be hosting throughout that week!
SGA encourages students to ask members questions and attend meetings to keep up with new events and policies on campus.
Meetings are held in the ASRC Boyle Room bi-weekly on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month, except for the meeting on Nov. 25,
2025, which has been moved to Nov. 18, 2025.
