WEST LIBERTY– Hello and welcome back to the October 2025 edition of “Hilltop Movie Reviews!”
This month, I decided to review three spooky and suspenseful movies for you all looking for a fun way to celebrate Halloween.
Let’s get to it!
Donnie Darko (2001)
The first entry into our Halloween themed review is Donnie Darko! Our main
protagonist, Donnie Darko, is told by a man in a bunny suit that the world will end in 28
days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds. This would normally be disregarded as a
dream for many of us, but Donnie just narrowly escaped an accident that dropped an
airplane jet onto his house. Throughout the rest of the movie, you follow Donnie as he
tries to escape this time loop and prevent the end of the world. This movie will leave you
with more knowledge about Smurf lore than you’d ever like to know.

Jennifer’s Body (2009)
Jennifer’s Body is one of the most heartbreaking yet fun movies you will ever sit
through. In this movie, we slowly watch “Needy” witness her best friend
become a stranger version of herself. This change can be due to Jennifer being turned
into a succubus (hate when that happens). This movie will have you rooting for Jennifer
even against your own best interests.

Sinners (2025)
Sinners is the newest release in the modern resurgence of vampire media, and boy does
it do a great job. Set in the south in 1932, Sinners follows two brothers acquiring a
property to turn into a club. The group is then haunted by a group of vampires that
slowly pick off the members of the party. This movie deals with heavy subjects including
racial discrimination, PTSD, gang violence, and loss of family. Absolutely one of my
favorite films, it absolutely cannot be praised enough.
