WEST LIBERTY– Last week, West Liberty University celebrated a tradition as old as time: Homecoming. This year’s Homecoming had a Wild West twist.
This week-long tradition contained multiple activities such as kickoff on the Quad on Sunday, Serenades on Monday, Celebrity Servers with the candidates on Tuesday, and Tent Day holding strong on Wednesday. Thursday evening, a pep rally and line dancing was held on the Quad, and there was a cornhole tournament on Friday.
Finally, finishing out the week on Saturday, the Homecoming parade came through campus and ended in the ASRC parking lot with tailgating before West Liberty University’s football team faced Glenville State at 1 p.m.
Tailgating occurred throughout the game and ended about an hour after. Around 7:30 p.m., the Homecoming festivities carried over to the quad with bull riding and a cookout. Closing out the night, the Dirty Dog Tavern in the town of West Liberty hosted a 21-plus Homecoming afterparty.
Over the duration of the last week, the campus of West Liberty University saw many faces, young and old. Many current students and alumni came together and participated in festivities, celebrating together and making new friends. This tradition is a staple at any university and will continue on for years to come.
