We all get addicted to watching our favorite shows for hours on end. What we don’t realize is just how much these shows can affect our mood.
If you feel scared, it wouldn’t be the smartest idea to watch American Horror Story. To watch the creepy intros for every season of AHS, click here. If you are sad, you probably shouldn’t watch Grey’s Anatomy. Click here to watch a super sad moment from Grey’s.
If you are in a great mood or simply want to feel crazy happy, there are a few shows out there that will literally leave you laughing until you cry. These are shows that will not only make you smile, but will make your day brighter.
“I had figure skating lessons since I was 13, and then my mom sobered up and realized I was a boy.” New Girl is the show, and the dynamic between the characters is perfect. You have the main character Jessica (Zoey Deschanel), and her roommates Schmidt, Winston, and Nick.
Schmidt is materialistic and flirtatious, Winston is the kindhearted voice of reason, and Nick is the so called ‘screw-up.’ Jessica ends up finding a great deal on craigslist and winds up moving in with these three very different men, and soon realizes that she has gotten much more than new roommates. She now has very weird, loud, and crazy new friends.
Fixer Upper is pretty self-explanatory. Many home improvement shows have yelling and drama over a wall that shouldn’t have been taken down and so on, but this show lets you kick back and go with the flow. A couple named Chip and Joanna Gaines work together to create dream homes for people. The reason this show is different from others is the love that is so clearly there for these two.
While other shows feature couples fighting, Fixer Upper depicts Joanna gifting Chip with the car of his dreams, soon followed by him lovingly saying, “Babe! Shut your face!”
“I have flaws. What are they? I sing in the shower. Sometimes I spend too much time volunteering. Occasionally I’ll hit somebody with my car.” The Office is one of those forgotten shows, but those who still watch it, are well aware that it will live on forever with its dry humor.
This show is done as a documentary and is based off of the original British show also called The Office. The television show plays out in Scranton, Pa. and focuses on a paper company. Michael Scott (Steve Carell) is the branch manager and other main characters include Dwight Schrute, Pam Beesly, and Jim Halpert (John Krasinski). The show ran for over eight years, so it is certainly worth a watch.
These shows may just be a few minutes long and only fill up a rainy afternoon, but everyone knows it’s easy to get attached to fictional characters. You feel like you are a part of their lives and you can’t help but feel happy with them. So, next time you are picking your next show, choose one that will make you feel the happiness that each character feels at the end of every episode.
