Wheeling, West Virginia has a ton of options for food, but sometimes you don’t have the money in your pocket for top-of-the-line meals. After traveling around the Highlands, Downtown and Elm Grove, I found some great deals to feed your appetite that won’t break the bank. There are a lot of breakfast, lunch and dinner deals, but I narrowed it down to the five best places to go when dining on a budget.
Eat’nPark is located at the Highlands on 80 Fort Henry Road in Triadelphia, W. Va., and they have deals for breakfast and dinner that you probably don’t know about. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, they have an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet for only $7.99 and for senior citizens it is only $5.99 on Tuesdays. On Sundays, they have the same breakfast buffet but it costs $10.99. The buffet is open from 7-11a.m. and ranges from pancakes and waffles to fresh fruit and muffins.
Figgaretti’s is a main stay in the Wheeling area since its arrival in 1948. Located at 1035 Mount DeChantal Rd., a small restaurant that is family owned opens daily at 11 a.m. except for Sundays, when it opens at 3 p.m. They have a daily take-out deal on pasta and salad that only costs $5.50. A full meal for $5.50 is almost unbeatable nowadays. They also have free delivery Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The unbeatable sauce can’t be matched by any chain restaurant and must be tried if you’re in the Wheeling area.
The Centre Market is up next with Coleman’s Fish Market located at 2226 Market St, Wheeling. Coleman’s has been in the Wheeling area for over 100 years, and by the looks of it, it’s going to be there for another hundred. Fresh fish with a great flavor for a cheap price is an amazing combination that must be taken advantage of. A huge fish sandwich and an order of perfectly seasoned fries for only $7 is a perfect meal because you leave full and your wallet isn’t hurting. Their menu has a ton of cheap delicious seafood items that can’t be beaten anywhere in the area.
The Elm Grove DiCarlo’s is a pizza place that must be tried by all that are in the Wheeling area. It is located at 2099 National Rd in Elm Grove, W. Va. and will remain there for years to come. The pizza is always hot and fresh out of the oven because they are so busy making more amazing pizza. At first, the idea of cold cheese on a hot pizza is a little peculiar; but once you take that first bite, all is forgotten.
Many people eat their DiCarlo’s pizza in their car because the pizza is so good that they just can’t wait until they get home to dig in. When you leave DiCarlo’s, you will always leave happy because you have great pizza in hand and cash still in your pocket. The average person only eats three to four slices per sitting for a meal, which costs less than $5, and that is a great deal for any person dining on a budget.
Last on the list of great deals in the Wheeling area is the Dominos on the Hilltop with a pizza deal that can’t be outdone. Located at Route 88 and North Fork at West Liberty, W. Va. next to West Liberty University, this specific Dominos has a walk in Wednesday deal on 1-topping medium pizzas for $3.99 on carry-out orders. With tax, a $4.23 1-topping medium pizza can’t be beaten by any restaurant in the Wheeling area. A medium pizza is a dinner and a late night snack all in one; if you have a little extra change in your pocket, you can get two pizzas so that you have a meal for the next day.
Wheeling has a lot to offer, especially when it comes to food, but the food doesn’t always come cheap. Hopefully this list will help you save some of your hard earned money and keep your stomach full. Sometimes finding the best deals are hard, but when you look around hard enough, you will find ways to save money.
