Trevor Stewart is a senior baseball player from Wheeling, W.Va. He is a piece of the West Liberty pitching staff. Stewart wears number 22 for the Toppers, and he looks to be an important part of the pitching staff this season. Now that you know some basic information about Stewart, I’m going to tell you some things about him that you will not find on hilltoppersports.com.
Stewart is a 2013 graduate from Wheeling Park High School who has always had a passion for baseball. He started playing baseball at just five years old, and he has been playing ever since. This season will be his 16th consecutive year playing baseball.
Stewart knows what it takes to be successful on the field, but he is also successful off the field. He is a marketing major at West Liberty University, which takes up most of his time when he is not playing baseball. Stewart would like to sell insurance with his dad after he graduates.
Some of Stewart’s hobbies include playing video games, hanging out with friends, watching movies, and playing baseball of course. Stewart’s friends refer to him as “Stew.”
One thing that you might not like about Stewart is that his favorite baseball team is the St. Louis Cardinals. Being located in Pittsburgh Pirates country, most of his friends will give him a hard time about it on a daily basis. One of his friends Jerry Lucas said, “We make it very difficult for him to get away with being a Cardinals fan.”
Team chemistry is a major key to be successful in sports because without it, you won’t be a good team. Stewart is a very likeable teammate on the West Liberty roster.
First baseman Tim Hughes said, “He is a good kid, and is always on time. Trevor always does his work, and he gets done what he has to do. His dedication is definitely his best quality, and he has helped us the past few years on the mound with his arm.”
Fellow pitcher Cody Shook said, “Stew is a good teammate, and always shows up on time. He was the first guy I met my freshman year, and he was very welcoming to my freshmen class and every freshmen class since. He is a very positive spirit to the team.”
“Its been a great four years on the Hilltop, and I’ve made a lot of friends that I can call brother; I’m excited to see how this season plays out,” Stewart said.
He would like to increase his innings pitched this year and have under a 3.00 ERA, Earned Run Average. He has high expectations for this year, and he plans to live up to them. Many players have pre-game rituals they perform, and “Stew” is no different. He always puts his right sock on before his left one, and he never steps foot on the white foul lines. Stewart’s senior season is underway, and he is looking for his best season yet as a Hilltoppers.
