Sometimes it’s hard to get into a nice rhythm when it comes to exercise, especially in college. Here are some tips to get or stay in shape while on West Liberty University’s campus.
1. Take a class
You can take a class like yoga for an academic credit, or you could go to one of the classes offered on campus, such as Zumba or Cardio Bootcamp. These classes are free and open to all students!
2. Go to the Wellness Center
The Wellness Center is open and free for students to use — all you need is your student ID! There are many machines and free weights available. If you are not sure how to get started in the gym, you can take advantage of West Liberty’s personal training program. Other facilities on campus that are also open to students are the indoor track and the swimming pool.
3. Take a walk around campus
Sometimes, the track and treadmill can become monotonous. With the weather getting warmer, taking a walk could not only help you stay fit, but it could also let you enjoy the nice weather and the scenery surrounding West Liberty. Sometimes going for a walk can help you clear your head, too. However, if walking isn’t really your thing, you could also run or jog.
4. Intramurals
Intramurals are also a way to stay fit while also having fun with friends. There are many intramural sports offered, such as racquetball, basketball, soccer and more. For more information on intramurals, one can contact Kate Billings at [email protected].
5. Work out in your room
If you don’t want to leave your room, there are still ways you can stay fit. Squats, push-ups and sit-ups are just a few examples of exercises you can easily do in your dorm room. Also, instead of taking the elevator, you can also switch it up and take the stairs.
Staying fit while in college can seem impossible, but it does not have to be that way. Of course, there are other ways to stay fit or get fit around campus. Simply find a way that works for you and stick with it!
