Student Government Association (SGA) hosted the fourth and final week of Toppers Got Talent on Nov. 27 at 8 p.m. The judges of the evening were Jessica Ballard, Chelsea Williams, Ashley Pryor and Zach Rhodes. Serenity Sparkle also returned to host the event.
The three performers who made it to the finale were Audrey Blust, Andrew Mehler as Boston Michaels and DeVante Brown.
Blust opened the evening with a latin piece. She sang Bach’s version of “Ava Maria.”
Boston Michaels performed second. His performance piece showcased activism. During the performance, Boston Michaels held up posters with statistics about bullying and suicide as well as the LGBT youth hotline 1 (800) 246-7743 and the suicide hotline number 1 (800) 273-8255.
Brown was the third and final performer. He played the drums to a remix to songs including “I Knew Were Trouble.”
The audience would be the ones voting for the winner this week unlike previous weeks. Paper ballots were passed out at the end to allow for audience participation.
The winner of the evening was DeVante Brown. Audrey Blust was the runner-up. Andrew Mehler as Boston Michaels placed third. The finalists got to pick between a 32-inch TV, Beats Pill, and an Apple Watch. Although Brown was supposed to pick first, he let the other finalists choose what they wanted.
For this week’s performance, WLU-TV Channel 14 partnered with The Trumpet Online and livestreamed the event on the Trumpet’s Facebook page. If you missed it, you can find it on Facebook and keep an eye out for it on Channel 14.
