Christmas break is a good time to relax and spend time with the family. Having a whole month free makes it seem like it is a long time, but it is easy to let it slip away.
You may find yourself making up on the sleep you lost during the semester, not knowing what else to do. If that is your case, or if you just want some ideas on what to do to have fun, then this list is for you.
1. Learn a new recipe
One of the things that can be very entertaining and can include the whole family is cooking. Whether it is baking Christmas cookies or trying new recipes for the holidays, cooking is something that can be done without having to spend a lot of money. Plus, everyone, even the youngest in the family, can help.
Not only it is a fun way to spend time but it also leaves delicious dishes and treats after everything is done. The food can be enjoyed at home or even as gifts for any holiday parties.
2. Try a winter sport/activity
The cold temperatures during the winter may push people from going outside, but the truth is snow is just as amusing to play with as it is to watch it fall.
The cold can be easily avoided and there are many fun activities that can be done in the snow. For the ones that want to try something more adventurous, skiing and snowboarding may be a good choice. If you are looking for something more relaxing, tubing is also available in many ski resorts. If you are lucky enough to have a hill close by, you could always go sledding.
3. Meet up with your friends back home
If you went away for school, or even if you stayed close but your friends left, Christmas is a great time to meet up again and catch up with everyone. The distance can be hard on some friendships that were created through high school but it doesn’t have to break them.
With all the social media platforms that we have access to now, it is very easy to set up a time and place in for everyone to get back together.
4. Binge watch a show
There are many new TV shows that come out during the semester, but then is not the best time to start a show. With homework and exams, getting addicted to a show can mean putting off school work which can lead to bad grades. Christmas break is the perfect time to start the shows everyone is talking about.
You have plenty of free time and no morning classes. After all, there is no better way to relax than watching some tv. Here is a list of the best shows of 2017 by The Verge.
5. Read a good book
A different, but just as entertaining, option than watching TV, is reading books. Books can also be time consuming during the semester, so it is usually recommended to stick to class books.
During this whole month, you can pick up some new books without having to worry about how much time you spend flipping pages. Here is a list of the 10 best books of 2017 ranked by the New York Times.
