This past week, West Liberty University’s Student Government Association (SGA) announced a red eye bus trip to New York City. The trip, open to students, staff and faculty, will leave campus on April 6 and return on April 8.

Three buses are rented for the trip, making 140 tickets available. The tickets, which are $50 per person, will be able to be purchased on Tuesday, March 6 in the College Union ballroom. They will be available starting at 6 a.m. until they sell out. Students will need to present a valid West Liberty ID to purchase a ticket.

“Last year we sold out within our first 2 hours, so we recommend getting in line early if people would like a ticket,” explained Chelsea Williams, SGA Vice President. “All WLU affiliates currently working for or attending the university can purchase a ticket and one guest ticket (non-WLU affiliate).”

People attending the trip will sleep on the buses at night and they will have all day Saturday to explore NYC. The buses will depart from WLU at 11 p.m. April 6, arrive in NYC around 8 a.m. on April 7, depart NYC at 10 p.m. and arrive back at WLU on April 8 at 8 a.m.

“I personally recommend students to go for multiple reasons. Mainly, the cost is very low for a roundtrip to NYC and the students are able get a full day of experiencing the city without having to spend even more on hotels. I also think students should take the opportunity to go because it is a great experience for anyone looking to travel and explore new places,” said Williams. “There are endless activities to do while in NYC. I will be holding an informational for all passengers that purchase tickets that will go over all the places to visit including unique eateries and popular tourist sites.”
