When people think of the word “play,” chances are that one name stands out above all others: Shakespeare. His works, while hundreds of years old, still manage to influence the modern world. One work in particular seems to have stood the test of time, and the Hilltop Players are proudly presenting their own performance of “Romeo and Juliet” in Kelly Theater.
According to Brown Paper Tickets, the show dates are April 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m., April 21 at 7:30 p.m. and April 22 at 3 p.m.
Written in the late 16th Century by legendary playwright William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet depicts the story of two star-crossed lovers attempting to maintain their love for one another amidst their feuding families.
Directing the play is Kelly Theater Director and Associate Professor of Theater Michael Aulick.
The principle cast includes Daniel White as Romeo, Alexandra Burdick as Juliet, Alex Gordon as Lord Capulet, Ingrid Young as Lady Capulet, Destiny Walsh as Lord Montague, Jalen McCrary as Mercutio, Alex Franke as Benvolio, Callie Carroll as Nurse, Grant VanCamp as Friar Lawrence, Amanda Tamplen as Escales, Hayden Heiserman as Paris, Lexy Glover as Tybalt/Apothecary, Ben Moore as Peter, Anthony Hood as Balthasar, Joise Jarrett as Sister Jane, Carly Balog as Sampson, Autumn Carver as Abraham and Sarah Lemley as Petruchio.
The ensemble, consisting of citizens, dancers and fighters, will all be played by members of the principle cast.
The production crew includes Dr. Melinda Kreisberg as Assistant Director, Hunter Helms as Stage Manager, Carly Balog as Fight Captain, Meta Lasch for Costumes and Set Design, Christopher Rees and Crystal Motto for Light Design, and Maggie Storms for Props.
Considering the play’s popularity and it being the final production of the season, you may want to get your tickets as soon as possible.
