On Dec. 15, 140 students are expected to graduate during the Fall 2018 Commencement Ceremony. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. in the Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex (ASRC). Both summer and fall graduates can participate in the ceremony.
Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and tickets are not required. Graduates must report to their designated location for lining up by 10:15 a.m.
A reception will be held in the College Union immediately following the ceremony for graduates, friends and family. Parking is available behind the ASRC.
West Liberty University President Dr. Stephen Greiner will preside over the ceremony. Tedd Clossin, president and chief executive officer of WesBanco Inc. and WesBanco Bank Inc., is the commencement speaker. Greiner will present Clossin with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.
The student speaker is Meagan Ford. Ford is graduating from the West College of Business and is from Silver Spring, Md.
Students with the highest grade point average from each college will carry the banner for their college. Banner carriers are Jalyn Bolyard for the College of Arts and Communication, Callaway Barr for the College of Sciences, Gerardo Sarmiento for the Gary E. West College of Business, Amy Marosz for the College of Education, Shannon McDermott for the College of Liberal Arts, and Teresa Conners for the School of Professional Studies.
Each graduate will receive a certificate of participation during the ceremony, and the actual diplomas will be sent out in January.
If you cannot attend the ceremony, it will be live on WLU-TV Channel 14 and on WLU-TV online. A video of the ceremony will also be provided to graduates with their diplomas.
Two photographs will be taken of the graduate by Chappell Studio, and will be available for purchase through Chappell Studio’s website about a week after the commencement ceremony.
A full list of graduates can be found in the Dec. 6 issue of the Trumpet.
