Student Government Association (SGA) is the voice that stands between the students and administration. SGA does their best to meet every need of the student body. It is a body of students who serve as important leaders of the school. They put together big events around campus. One of the events is homecoming, which is the biggest event and celebration of the year.
SGA is looking forward to this school year because of the interest of students from last year. Vice President Jeffrey Tice stated, “Last year we saw a real interest in SGA, I hope the students see that they can come to us with their needs.” This year they are looking to stay in touch with the students and to be a more visible face. The new applicants also are looking to play a big role in SGA this year. “Because it’s a young group of people, it will be interesting to see what they have to bring to the table,” said Tice.
There are 14 new applicants running for SGA. Running for the Freshman Class Representative is Jessica Ballard, Adam Croasmum, and Hayden Blazer. Running for the Sophomore Class Representative is Eric Piekarski. Running for Commuter Representative is Dalton Haas and Skyler Deuter. For Housing Representative is Adam Croasum. Running for Greek Life Representative is Holly Chiles. Running for Senior at Large is Jessica Copen, Carly Allen, Casey Pfister, Chet Inhar, Jessica Ballard, and Chelsea Williams.
The SGA elections will be held on September 17, 2014 from 8 am to 4 pm. It will be online voting and tables with computers will be set up in the union.
