West Lib Idol continues as contestants performed songs from the movies tonight, Feb. 10, in the Student Union Ballroom at West Liberty University.
This week, the 11 performers received comments from the judges, however, the audience decided who would remain in the competition by voting for their favorite singer. The seven contestants moving on to next week’s show include, in order of announcement, Hannah Walters, Zarek Wiley, AJ Holden, CJ Coakley, Emily Chiles, Luke Sadecky, and Brooke Dorsey.
To the audience’s delight, some of the participants chose to take the theme literally by using props and creating memorable scenes. Also, in honor of the upcoming Valentine’s Day, Chris McPherson took it upon himself to recite pick-up lines in between performances to add some fun throughout the night.
Here is each participant that sang tonight in order of performance:
Emily Chiles with “A Thousand Miles” from White Chicks; Cody Waggoner with “All of the Stars” from The Fault in Our Stars; Reid Boden with “Folsom Prison Blues” from Walk the Line; Yijing Shen with “Que Sera, Sera” from The Man Who Knew Too Much; CJ Coakley with “Anyone Else But You” from Juno; Luke Sadecky with “I See Fire” from The Hobbit.
AJ Holden with “Beauty School Dropout” from Grease; Brooke Dorsey with “The Climb” from Hannah Montana: The Movie; Hannah Walters with “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid; Jessica Crawford with “Tears in Heaven” from Rush; and Zarek Wiley with “Uptown Funk” from Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip.
Next Wednesday’s competition will continue in the Student Union Ballroom at 7 p.m. with ‘Beach Songs’ as the theme.
