“Ampersand” is currently accepting writing and artwork submissions for this year’s edition. This will mark the 35th year for the annual creative writing publication, which is produced by the Omicron Nu chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society.
“Ampersand” publishes poetry, short writings of either fiction or creative nonfiction, and artwork including drawings, illustrations, and photography.
The first issue of “Ampersand” was published in 1980, and at the time accepted work from English students as well as faculty of West Liberty. Now, the focus is on solely the students, but students from any major can and are encouraged to submit their work. Since this is the issue for the 2015-2016 academic year, students who graduated in December 2015 are also welcome to submit.
“Ampersand,” according to Mrs. Nicole Naegele, Sigma Tau Delta Academic Advisor and Instructor of English, is a great opportunity for students to showcase their work. She added, “The fact that we take work from students of all majors illustrates that our students are getting a liberal arts education, and speaks to the well-roundedness of our students.”
The deadline for submissions is Monday, Feb. 29. The finished product is expected to be ready for distribution by early April. For any questions or to submit their work, students should contact Naegele at [email protected]
