On March 21, a new exhibit opened in the Nutting Gallery here at WLU. The exhibit is called “Lucent Findings” and features work from Michael Mikula and Judith Brandon. Mikula had unique glass sculptures on display while Brandon had pieces on paper that included mediums such as pastels, charcoal, and colored pencils.
Between both of the artists’ work, I enjoyed both of the very different forms of art very much. From Mikula’s interesting and fragile glass pieces to Brandon’s beautiful art pieces on paper, I liked it all. I enjoyed it so much, in fact, that one of my first thoughts upon entering the exhibit was that these artists should have their own museums.
Both of the artists’ work was so good that I couldn’t even pick whose work I liked more. Mikula and Brandon had works like I’ve never seen before, and that made them even more special to me. In fact, I didn’t even have a favorite piece from either artist. I enjoyed every single work of art in the exhibit.
I thoroughly enjoyed this opening, and I was in love it from the moment I walked through the Nutting Gallery doors. This is hands down one of my favorite exhibits that I have seen here so far. I really anticipate exhibits that will be this entertaining in the future.
“Lucent Findings” runs from now until April 12. The Nutting Gallery is open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30am to 2:30pm. Any other times can be made by appointment by emailing Dr. Robert Villamagna at [email protected] or by calling him at 304-336-8370.
