Billy Beane set to leave the world of baseball

Oakland sports and Major League Baseball will never be the same. Renowned General Manager and minority stake holder of the Oakland Athletics, Billy Beane, is set to leave the team, and the league, very soon. Beane has been known for his revolutionary approach to team structuring, but he will now be working in European Soccer.

Beane who is a minority stake holder of the Athletics could soon have a financial interest in the Fenway Sports Group, the parent company of the Boston Red Sox. The Fenway Sports group is preparing to go public and merge with the RedBall Acquisition Corp., which Beane co-chairs.

“It will be very interesting to see how Beane will fare in the European Football market, given he has had such a stellar career as an MLB executive,” stated Danielle Merritt, avid Oakland Sports fan.

Currently the Fenway Sports Group also features a presence in European Soccer, as they own the Liverpool Football Club. Beane will be continuing that portion of their portfolio. As he prepares to enter into the group, he will be tasked with overseeing the acquisition of other smaller European Football Clubs, helping to further establish the group as a global sports brand.

Although the move into European sports was certainly unexpected for MLB and Athletics fans alike, the Fenway Sports Group is certainly bringing in a tremendous talent.
