WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – With the regular season in the books, the West Liberty Hilltoppers enter the Mountain East Conference Tournament with a 24-4 overall record and an 18-2 record in the conference. Overall, they have a .857 win percentage and a .900 win percentage in the conference. They also finished the season with a perfect 14-0 record at home and an astonishing 9-3 record away from the hilltop.
West Liberty will now turn their focus to the MEC Tournament held in Wheeling at WesBanco Arena. They enter the tournament as the number one seed and therefore get the first-round bye. The Hilltoppers faced off on Friday, March 6 at 6:00 p.m. against the winner of the Davis & Elkins vs. Point Park matchup.

The Hilltoppers’ success this season has been driven by consistency on both ends of the court. West Liberty’s offensive production with disciplined defensive pressure has allowed them to control the tempo in conference play and close out tight matchups when it mattered most.
A key part of this Hilltopper success is none other than the Irishman, number 23 Jamie Muldowney. He played in all 28 games for West Liberty and averaged 14.1 points per game while averaging 21.3 minutes a game. Muldowney averaged 6.4 rebounds per game which led the team.
Another key contributor for this West Liberty success is the 5’10” freshman from Minford, Ohio Myles Montgomery. Like Muldowney, he competed in all 28 games for the Hilltoppers and averaged 13.5 points per game which is good for the second most among the team. Montgomery also averaged 24.2 minutes a game, which is the most among the Hilltoppers.
West Liberty averaged 99.3 points per game, which is the best in the Mountain East Conference. They also had the third-best field goal percentage in the conference at .494. The Hilltoppers scored a total of 302 three pointers during the regular season and averaged 10.8 per game. That is good for fifth place in the conference.
With their depth, experience, and high-powered offense, West Liberty enters as the team to beat. This marks the 10th time in program history that the Hilltoppers have entered the tournament as the one seed, evidence of the program’s continued success.
Coach Lamberti will gather his crew to compete for their fifth Conference title and their first since 2023.
